Guys Only! Conservancy camp out, work party.

The task at hand is constructing one or two shade structures along the Trans-Catalina Trail. The Conservancy will provide all materials, tools, plans and direction to build the structures. All they need is your man power!
You’ll enjoy a long weekend in a spectacular location — the Laura Stein Volunteer Camp — one of the most scenic camp sites in Southern California. Perched 1,300 feet above the Pacific Ocean and about five miles west of Avalon near Haypress Reservoir, the camp has magnificent views of the San Pedro Channel.
Meals are provided during the weekend. Dinner will be prepared for you while a chef or two in the group will step up to fix breakfasts in camp and lunches to take into the field. Plenty of food will be furnished in camp. Of course we’ll also have beer, wine, and soda for dinner and you’re free to bring additional snacks and refreshments.
The site has four canvas-sided tents on raised decks. Each tent contains eight padded bunk beds (bring your own sleeping bag). There are picnic benches, umbrellas, bathroom facilities with flush toilets, hot showers, and potable running hot and cold water and a full outdoor field kitchen.
Participants should arrange their own boat reservations to Catalina. Conservancy staff will pick you up in Avalon at 11:15 a.m. Friday morning after the Catalina Express, the Marina del Rey ferry, and the Catalina Flyer arrive. We’ll have you back in Avalon Sunday about 3 p.m. in time to catch any of these boats back to the mainland. Cost of the weekend is $150 plus your generous hard work.
