Shop at Home Night
Another Catalina Island Holiday gem is the annual ‘Shop at Home Night’ December 6th, 2009. In short, it is a one-night shopping extravaganza with holiday discounts, strolling carolers and prize drawings. Originally designed to keep the ‘locals’ holiday shopping at home, it has become quite a draw for visitors as well. People love giving (and receiving) a little piece of Catalina charm for the holidays. The night starts off with the lighting of the town Christmas tree on Crescent Avenue. (Often with a visit from Santa Claus himself). The Chamber of Commerce hands out cards identifying which retailers are participating and the fun begins. Participating retailers have discounts of 10 to 50% off for this one night only. Many have complimentary sweets and treats and all have prize giveaways.
Stay over and the Inn on Mt. Ada opens it doors to visitors on Monday December 7th for the one and only annual opportunity to tour the former Wrigley Mansion.
