Join the Catalina Island Conservancy and its Pilot Supporters for a celebration honoring 50 years of service to general aviation. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, October 18, 2009 at the Airport in the Sky (AVX).

Mark your calendars and join us on the beach on Saturday, September 19th in Two Harbors at the isthmus on Catalina Island for the 2009 Catalina Island Micro-brew Festival. Enjoy unlimited sampling of some of the finest micro-brews and a variety of appetizers. The Yvone Perea band will be performing live music throughout the event and a silent auction will be held to benefit the charitable activities of the Avalon Lions Club.

Shuttle service between Avalon and Two Harbors aboard the Blanche W is now offered two times each Saturday for the Summer season. This scenic cruise takes approximately 75 minutes each way and passes along the north-eastern edge of Santa Catalina Island, giving passengers the opportunity to see wildlife such as bald eagles, sea lions, and dolphins, as well as spectacular views of the island’s rugged coastline.

Two baby Bald Eaglettes hatched without intervention in the Two Harbors nest above Catalina Harbor on Catalina Island! The first hatched on March 26th and the second on March 28th.
